M’boro vs Reading Sky Bet Ch’boat 3:00pm Saturday 14th September Riverside Stadium (Att: 19414) Middlesbrough celebrated their league game in the Riverside as Marvin Johnson strike secured a 1-0 win over Reading in fashion. Jonathan Woodgate’s negative were victorious again as they maintained their Sky Bet Championship victory of the entire year, twenty-four years after the Teessiders started their new life over Chelsea. Johnson’s free-kick settled entities, though Middlesbrough were indebted to goalkeeper Darren Randolph. Reading boss Jose Gomes surprisingly chosen to fall striker George Puscas into the bench and he was unable to match his own team-mate’s goalscoring hazard while the Romanian’s replacement, Yakou Meite, appreciated a first half. Having broken on, Meite’s shot was blocked by Ryan Shotton, and the Ivory Coast faltered again later drilling a low shot at Randolph after exploiting some hesitancy from Marc Bola. Randolph left a first-half rescue from John Swift, before the break with Middlesbrough creating opportunities of their own but it was not one-way traffic. The top fell to Paddy McNair but his shot was led near Rafael Cabral, with the Reading goalkeeper getting down well to save, while the Northern Irishman did to break into the box in the best. It was a day after both goalkeepers impressed and another intervention that is significant was made by Randolph at the start of the second half. Liverpool loanee Evie Ojaria fired at a sharp drive because he saved to his left, why he’s regarded among the best shot-stoppers beyond the Premier League, but Randolph emphasized. As 10 minutes Middlesbrough maintained the guide, it proved a second. Michael Morrison fouled Ashley Fletcher close to the touchline, allowing a free-kick to be whipped into by Johnson. Fletcher lunged at the ball and he unsighted Cabral, who could only watch on as the ball while he failed to make any contact. Boro promised a second moments later but since Lewis Wing fashioned a chance because he dribbled past two men into the box, his first effort was blocked by a fine sliding challenge from Andy Yiadom. Reading came close to an equaliser, although johnson also threatened to widen the home side’s lead as he fired in a shot which Cabral turned round the article. Swift was heading in until Randolph tipped the ball on the top. The goalkeeper of boro was the crucial figure in the closing stages, with two dramatic saves securing his side. Displaying excellent agility, Randolph turned Lucas Joao header around the post before withdrawing off another effort from Liam Moore. Jonathan Woodgate:”I thought we deserved to win it. I thought in the direction of the end of the game they piled the pressure on, however we stood strong. We had to find that that belief steel and that I thought we did that like I mentioned at the week. “I thought we deserved to win the match. I thought we all may have been a couple of goals up and looked dangerous about the counter-attack occasionally. It was deserved, and that I was pleased for the lads, they handed everything.” Jose Gomes:”Puscas, Joao and Pele did not start. Pele and Puscas had travelled for their national group, but that was not the reason. The rationale was I did not like the manner they played in the game. “I have six strikers, they’re all great players, and they should constantly fight for their own position. They need to give everything they have inside them, and it’s my duty as their manager to need that. If they don’t give the maximum that they can, in my estimation, then we’ve got quite good quality players that can replace them and play” Read more here: http://midriks.com/andy-murray-says-he-feels-competitive-against-top-30-ahead-of-shanghai-masters/
