In a statement on Wednesdaythe FA said Silva’s action is alleged to have been”unsuitable or insulting or introduced the sport into disrepute”. Silva was defended by Manchester City director Pep Guardiola, who said it would be a”mistake” to penalize his playmaker for its tweet. England ahead Raheem Sterling affirmed Silva against accusations of racism, stating it was”a scenario between two buddies”. Mendy has also written stating he didn’t take offence.
