The decision has been made because of human safety. It was not made lightly. World Rugby pondered it long into the evening. But theyve decided theyve got to put security first. And its the decision that is perfect. Englands Pool C clash with France at Yokahama is the very first World Cup game to be cancelled, and the Pool B game between New Zealand and Italy at Toyota has followed suit. The decision has been made since the typhoon thats going towards Japans coast is huge. It is category five – and said to beabusive. It is going to hit on Saturday and deliver wind speeds of 160 miles per hour. If it strikes, it will be the typhoon to strike Japan in 26 decades. You cannot be playing rugby in a typhoon. Yes it is disappointing, however, I think most people will accept its the perfect decision. There are concerns on whether World Rugby have set the contingency plans in place. They understood they were going to hold a World Cup at typhoon season. The organisers have defended the decision, stating they haveno regrets at all. World Rugby championship director Alan Gilpin said:We knew there will be dangers. Its rare for a typhoon of the magnitude to create this effect overdue In typhoon season. Safety is priority. But while England go through into the quarter-finals anyhow, the large one on Sunday is Scotlands decider in Yokahama. The typhoon must have passed by then but what might happen is closer of infrastructure, there might be damage to flooding and the scene. So World Rugby are going to make a decision morning. If this match is cancelled it might be deemed a 0-0 draw and 2 points will be given. That would be extraordinary. Scotland are currently demanding contingencies plans be set up for Scotland to compete for a spot on the pitch. However, World Rugby have created clear that rescheduling the game is not an option.
